Here is a quick and easy question (I hope) for you experts. Can you delete the "master" database?
I'm doing some CYA for myself. I was deleting a bunch of spurious databases using the Enterprise Manager on a development box when it became corrupted - no connections, nothing. The application programmer says "I corrupted the the database" - which is true - but that I "did something stupid, like deleted the master database." I was trying to be careful, but mistakes can happen. However, I am curious if you can even delete the master database at all when there are other databases out there. I don't have a spare machine anymore (due to the above incident) to find out currently.
If it's true that I could not have deleted the master database, even accidentally, then it gives me evidence that there was another problem.

System databases, including master, can't be deleted. See BOL: "Deleting a Database"

not through sqlserver itself.
stop sqlserver service .
delete the mdf/ldf file
now someone is in deep sh..
Restore ?
follow the rebuildmaster procedure (see bol or ms-website)
