I had 2005 Management Studio Beta 2 open on my desktop when I got a request to create a new user for reports to connect in SQL Server 2000. I already had 2000 server registered, so I created a new login, added it as a user to the database, tested that I can connect as this user. Then I decided to change the password to make it better. After that I could not connect using not the old or the new password with the error message of login failure, not from 2005 Management Studio not from 2000 Enterprise manager. I tried to change it several times, refresh, disconnect, connect again, nothing helped. It was only when I changed the password in 2000 Enterprise Manager that I was able to use this login again.
