SQL Cluster not allowing "named pipes" network configuration to be disabled?

  • SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition.  MS Cluster on two nodes.

Tried to disable the named pipes protocol in "Network Configuration" but when clicking on named pipes the "Disable" button goes grey.  Any idea why in a cluster configuration this goes grey and is non-functional?

  • The named pipe cannt be removed in 2000SP3. It can be removed in SP3a or SP2. But it's recommended to keep it.
