Enterprise vs. Standard

  • Can SQL Server Standard Edition be used to do failover clustering?  I've looked around and from what I've seen I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but I haven't seen it definitavely as a no.  I posted on other boards and they said you had to have EE for "High Availability".  Does this include failover clustering?  I'd assume "High Availability" mean load balancing and all that jazz.

  • I recently researched this.  We are about to take on an Active/Passive cluster on one of our main SQL Servers.  Unfortunatley, clustering does require Enterprise editio.
