dts package opens blank

  • I have client tools installed on my pc and I created serveral dts packages and saved them on the sql server.  When I log onto the sql server, and I open the dts package, it opens blank.

    Thanks for any help!!

  • if you addressed any of the connections as (local), and you do not have the same database on your local computer, it will not show. The solution would be to change (local) to the computer name or ip address of the server. Obviously make this change while logged on the server.

  • I have the DTS on BISRV Server using 2 connections to other sql servers..so the connections are not local.  I was able to log onto the BISRV server and open a DTS; but when I opened another it was blank, then I went back to the DTS I was able to open, now that one is blank...when I close EM I got a dialog box to send error..

  • can you open the dts from the server? what type of connection is it? sql/windows nt?

  • Also what service pack levels are they?  Is your development machien the same as the server you are trying to open the Packages on etc.?

  • I can not open the dts from the server...the connections are sql server.

on my pc, i have 8.00.818 sp3 std edition

on my server, i have 8.00.760 sp3 std edition

  • maybe a DNS problem? try using ip addresses instead of named pipes temporarily.

  • I applied the hotfix 818...so both versions are 8.00.818 and I still have the same problems...some of the dts packages created with user with old domain name...we have recently migrated to a new dowmain name....would this cause issues....

  • you wouldn't be able to access the file at all if that were the case (I could be wrong)

you also may want to go to "save-as" and save the DTS to your local computer and see if it opens from there. My guess would be "no."

Did you try using IP addresses?

  • I used the ip address and was able to open a dts i had problems with before, and then i opened a new dts and got this message...

MMC has detected an error in a snap-in.  It is recommneded to shut down and restart MMC.
