• Hi Stef,

We have exactly the same issue on Win2k SP4 + Sql 2k SP3a.  Two instances running on this server, neither is a 'default' instance.  When you look in the Service Manager, nothing !, but if you type in the server\instance name then hit refresh services, voila it appears ok.   Also connecting on the server or remotely via EM works fine.  Just seems to be an issue with the service manager.

Took a look at the Microsoft KB814132 and is just a workaround !, no solution . Anyone know what MS mean by 'if the instance does not support network connections' ???, as far as we know the installs were pretty standard accept not 'default' instances, is something to do with network connections not enabled if it's not a 'default' instance ??

If anyone knows a solution, would love to hear from you.

    Regards.
