So I was just informed that my monitors are being upgraded to 24".From what, and perhaps more importantly, are they upping the resolution as well? The latter's kind of important if you actually want to fit more stuff onto your shiny new display! 🙂
I either have 17" or 19" at the moment. Not sure about the resolution, though.

I suppose that wouldn't be a bad question to ask prospective employers. When they say "Do you have any questions for us" I could come back with "Tell me about your coding and release standards."Hey Brandie... this is an awesome suggestion. I've just added it to my list of things that I ask when I'm being interviewed. (You know, I ought to blog that list.)

I have two huge ones as well set to 1920 x 1080 and they come in so handy. I can fit more junk on my screens than I really care to sometimes. 🙂

Pure guess is that you'll be going from 1280x1024 to widescreen 1920x1080, then, but guess you'll find out when they install it. 😉

haha. I picked the band, the food and the tuxedos. Other than that the phrase most often heard from me around those planning my wedding was "tell me where to stand". My wife and mother in-law spent countless hours fretting over all the details. In the end it was worth the effort they put into it though. It has been 11 years (this month) and we still hear from relatives how much fun our wedding was.

I think I've got everything set. I'm just agonizing over the music playlists and then I should be done.
We did screw up by not including a dress code in the invitations and by not registering until long after the invitations had gone out. We've gotten a lot of questions about those two things, but it's getting handled.

Other than that the phrase most often heard from me around those planning my wedding was "tell me where to stand". My wife and mother in-law spent countless hours fretting over all the details. In the end it was worth the effort they put into it though. It has been 11 years (this month) and we still hear from relatives how much fun our wedding was.
That's great. That's my biggest concern so far is that the guests have fun.
We've done every stage of this together, but just the two of us, so it has been a lot of work.
Our invitations were a comic, I'll post links to it after the wedding. The artist is going to put it on her site.
This is where we're having the wedding The Higgins Armory Museum[/url]. It is a medieval arms and armor museum.
No band, no DJ, just the ipod playing the music I put in the playlists. A friend is going to set up the sound equipment and start the appropriate playlists at the appropriate time.
Since it is a fall wedding, and my fiancé is a librarian and we're both book collectors, our centerpieces are old books cut into pumpkins, backfolded so the pages fan out. Cutting up the old books is killing me, but they're things no-one will ever want anyway, so there's that.

San Francisco - visit Muir Woods and see some big trees.
After seeing the trees - try a cable car ride ..... it is worth the effort

So I was just informed that my monitors are being upgraded to 24".I'm trying to figure out why. It's not like I told anyone I was having issues, or even requested them.
Still, not gonna argue. Just confused as to how I got on the upgrade list.

Seriously, though, I have a 24" widescreen monitor that I use in tandem with the 17" widescreen display on my laptop. One thing I quickly learned is that my eye can't take in all of a 24" widescreen monitor at once, so I have to size windows appropriately or it actually becomes counterproductive. I can still get more stuff on the screen, I just can't look at it all at the same time.
The biggest benefit I have realized is the ability to keep Object Explorer (in SSMS), Toolbox (in VS/BIDS), Properties (in both) and other such auxiliary windows pinned (i.e., NOT in autohide mode) while still having plenty of screen real estate in the work surface (query window or control flow/data flow window). Since I'm shifting my attention to look at those windows anyway, shifting my eyes isn't a hindrance, and it's nice to have them there waiting without having to click on the tabs to bring them up.

The funniest part of our wedding is that it was a huge to do with one major issue. We live in Kansas City on the Kansas side but got married in Missouri. We didn't even think about the license. We live in Kansas so we got a license in Kansas. The pastor talked to me at the reception privately, turns out our marriage wasn't legal. 😛 I didn't tell me wife until after the reception was over. Really the government drones should at least ask where the ceremony is taking place when near borders like that.
It all worked for the best though. In the end we both got our dream wedding. After the honeymoon we met the pastor at his office with my wife's best friend in sweatshirts and jeans. Her friend was the entire guest list and the photographer at our legal wedding.
