So here's a random thought based on your last post, Steve. If this is the longest thread in the world, how do we get it into the Guinness book of world records?
I'm being serious here. Think of the press that would generate for the site and for Red Gate.
Not the longest thread, but longer than any forum vendors had dealt with. Same as when we used to send our own newsletters in 2003/4/5. We were up there with the porn people for small companies sending lots of emails.

My comment was to Grant and was meant as a general comment. If you'd like to quantify it, go back to the testing that I did that was mostly ignored during the "first release". I'm just not going to take the time to type that and several other things up again, Steve.. especially since they were previously ignored.
And, yeah... I know you'll probably say that "they weren't ignored but..."
And yeah... I totally get that SQLServerCentral isn't a RedGate product and frequently doesn't get the love it might need. I actually DO appreciate what you try to have done and also realize that, like everyone else in the room, we all have to work for and with someone else.
Also, this isn't the first time that you say people really like the new site. If that's true, why does it seem to many of us that post frequencies by people asking questions have dropped way off. Maybe we're recalling incorrectly but it sure doesn't seem incorrect. I can tell you that a lot of the former heavy hitters have flown the coop.
Still, the community on this forum still rocks and that's what keeps me here. You are an instrumental part of that community. Thank you for what you do.

Shifting gears a bit and speaking of the community on this site, someone made a new addition to Wiktionary a month or so ago. I'm sure that most of you will recognize it. And, no, I had nothing to do with it appearing there. It caught me totally by surprise. It was "born" here on this wonderful site.

Too many rules.
Too many moderators trying to collect points or 3 pointing the stripes on their sleeves (you know what that means being Ex-Nav yourself) is the real problem on those "flavor" of sites.

Well THIS is annoying.
I have an SSIS solution / project saved that is set to DontSaveSensitive. All the packages under it are saved as the same. Last week, everything was working fine in that project. I had a package I was troubleshooting for an email issue. Closed the solution, rebooted my PC before the long weekend, came back this morning and reopened the solution.
Package run fails because the protection level of the packages don't match the project protection level. Turns out somehow the packages got set to EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey out of the blue. I know for a fact I didn't do it. No one has access to my machine. This solution isn't in Source Control yet. What the H E double hockey sticks?
My coworker had the same thing happen to him last week. Has anyone else seen this behavior before?
And on a fun note, this site isn't loading for me in Edge either. It just serves up blank pages. Not sure what's going on with that either.

I just tried it in Edge. No issues found at least with viewing. I've not tried posting with it and probably won't..

the only times I find SSIS behaviour being acceptable is when creating packages automatically in memory, execute them and discard after the run. Haven't yet found a problem too complex for this method and the bonus point is that the end users can normally take care of any ad-hoc stuff

Ok, I can see it in only one of two ways.
Either you're trying to say that SSIS has nothing to do with SQL (well, I can expect some people to agree with that), or -
You're in breach with the declared rule of this sub-forum, which clearly says: "Anything that is NOT about SQL!"

Can you tell me why it's OK to be a "woman owned company" but not a "man owned company"?
Can you tell me why it's ok to have a group called "Women In Technology" group but not ok to have a "Men in Technology Group?
There are hundreds of other such examples. If we really do want to stop the racism and the sexism and a whole bunch of other things, can we all stop with the racism, sexism, and a whole bunch of other things? I don't hate anyone be but the folks having events like this are are teaching people racism, sexism, and whole bunch of other things quite by example.
