    "It depends" would be the best answer.

    Depends on what Edition you are installing, the tools you have opted to install, the specifications of your system etc. The list goes on......

    Who asked you that anyway??...

    I think installation on a SSD drive will be a lot faster.

    Don't be so quick to judge.

    Maybe the interviewer just asks bogus questions to see how the interviewee would react to them.

    Or maybe not 🙂

    I think maybe the language barrier has jaded people in this thread. I have to agree that your original question of difference of installation time is crazy. But here it sounds like the interviewer was looking for you to identify at least two differences between 2005 and 2008. This is a completely different question than how long does each take to install.

    That question makes sense.

    One difference in installation is you'd have to make choices about Filestream in SQL 2008, and don't in 2005 (because 2005 doesn't have it).

  • I'm really sorry for what I had done. I'm new to this and I have a doubt on this and so I posted that question, If any one knows the answer will you please suggest me reagarding to my doubt. Thanks in adavnce.

  • Another would be Notification Services. You could install it on SQL Server 2005 but not on SQL Server 2008.
