Hi all,
Should this follow the guidelines for TempDB file placement, ie own drive for data, and logs on a shared drive?

You can, but I doubt it'd be worth it. Just place it as you would a normal user db, with data & log files on different drives.
It's not used nearly as heavily as tempdb is on a typical SQL instance.
