    WOTD - Scorching

Too hot this week! In the high 80's to the low 100's.

    Joe

That would be mild here in Phoenix for this time of year. That's what they've been calling this summer so far. That is also the forcast for the week here. Where are you at?

Colorado Springs, Colorado. Do note that there is almost always a 5-10 degree diff from the north part of town to the south part. My hat is off for you desert guys. Spent too much time in the desert during my Army career. I can not stand the heat.

I spent a month in January in Denver. Since then summers have been easier.

Like they say....it's not the heat, it's the humidity.

So true, I also spent 2 weeks in Huston in August in 90 degree weather and it felt much hotter than the 115 in Phoenix during the same time period.

I also lived in South Florida for several years, the humidity doesn't bother me unless it is above 90.

High 80s is comfortably warm (provided humidity is not too high). I can't think of high 80s (say 30 to 32.8 on the scale we use in Europe) as too hot. When it hits 35 (that's 95 to you) that is indeed scorching and it's beginning to get too hot (depending on wind and humidity - 35 with low humidity and a nice onshore breeze is comfortable for sitting in the sun).

I guess this idea that high 80s is uncomfortable comes from people who have never suffered awful climates like much of Britain - for example those who live near Manchester (where the local papers describe days that reach 70 as scorchers) treat every day when it gets over 80 as a rare and wonderful miracle for which thanks is to be given, and are happy when they can retire and migrate to climates where high 80s to low 90s is not at all unusual (that's why there are so many aged expat Brits, Germans, and Scandinavians in the Canaries and on the mediterranean coasts).

True - we throw around the big numbers but in the desert there is no humidity. If it were 110 with even 5% humidity, things would be a whole lot hotter.

105 in SLC with 30% humidity is a lot hotter than some of the temps I have felt in LV.

Yea, it is one of those songs. Once it is in your brain, it has to rattle around for a day or so. I read it, the tune popped into my head and it hasn't stopped since. I like the song, but please.....please, make it stop.:-D

I used to have that as a ringtone. I might have to get it again.
