UNC vs Local Drive Letter in source

  • Does anyone have experience in the performance gained or lost when using a UNC instead of a drive letter in the path of the source file?

  • Nope...

    What is the problem?

In DTS is better to use UNC path, specialty if you want to schedule as job later.

Make sure you have permission on the network.

  • Hi Rob,

I decided to use UNC when our network admins decided to disconnect mapped drives via login script. Saves a lot of frustation

    Cheers,
