    I tried that and it works...even though it is somewhat ugly ! Also, I ignored Elapsetime field altogether and did a datediff on starttime and endtime (both datetime fields) and...

    it is in hh:mm:ss format but the field carrying the data has varchar(20) datatype

    I tried that...I get this errror

    Server: Msg 409, Level 16, State 2, Line 1

    The average aggregate operation cannot take a datetime data type as an argument.

    Thanks for the replies...can I do something about it like compress the file (within Enterprise Mgr) also I am backing up my transaction logs every hour...

    Thanks I will try that, one more question...recovery is cumulative is'nt it.

    I can go to Sunday's full back up file recover it with norecovery option then jump to Friday's differential...

    I found the problem, even though I was on the network my machine was not registered to the Domain. That fixed it!
