You would benefit from a performance perspective if you created a separate connection for your lookup. Have you tried creating another connection and using that for your lookup?

I always manually update the stats on the production servers. I do not want SQL Server deciding to add to the overhead, I have enough problems.

RE: Backups Failing as Scheduled jobs
Implemented it on my testserver and it went fine. I always get errorinfo in jobhistory and jobstephistory when applicable . (authorities, file in use, disk full,..)I hope you find more errorinfo in jobhistory, jobstephistory, sqlserver-log, win-eventlog.
