It appears to be a fixed number. There's registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\SQL Query Analyzer\Recent File List but playing with it has no effect. Cheers, - Mark

Thank you very much for your response!! But, Is there any GUI option to truncate transaction log (as in SQL Server 7) without setting the database options such as "Simple Rocovery model" etc,?

Select DATENAME(dw , Cast('2003-07-27 23:55:02.093' as DateTime)) Don't have to do the cast bit!

Yes you can change the port to any unused port. You can do this using the 'Server Network Utility'. A restart of the SQL Server will be required.

I'll follow mccork, our developer dbas always start with unicode, until I push back. Of course they also love Varchar(1) !!!! Worse they start at NVarChar(1). KlK, MCSE

They both use the same controls. However once things are loaded in EM, they will be quicker in Computer Management. I suspect that the MMC for computer management might pre load some things, but AFAIK, these are the same snap ins.
