You're right - it is not actually running. I thought I had configured it properly but I guess I didn't. Now I feel silly. But what format would the file be in? Is it .trc?

If I understand you right, yes. My understanding of severity levels on errors isn't what it should be- I don't know if they error you are getting actually fails the batch/sp.
