I created a view that returned a record number for each sku within the group then modified your query to be based on this view and it works fine.Thanks for the suggestion =:-)

Actually my aim is to provide a search facility for our Web Server.That is why I do it. I use Full Text search to seach column in db and use ref in row to point to PDF that is external to db.

When the procedure updates the record correctly, most of the time it returns a 0. I do all my procs thru script files. Compile into dev, test and if all OK compile into uat and live. I still only have one script but different environments. Makes changing and testing easier.

Thanks Frank, this works fine. I've been browsing BOL, but didn't really find what I was looking for (didn't see your solution either).
