RE: Index on every Foreign Key?

  • Reply

While that advice is a decent starting point; i.e. first look to foreign key fields used frequently in joins to place indexes on. However, beware putting indexes on any field (foreign key or otherwise) that is not particularly selective (a low rate of repetitive data). Having an index on any field that has very few […]

RE: New Stored Procedure NAME

Thanks for your reply. While using SQLNS for creatng new stored procedure, the window that comes up is the same window what you see when you create a new SP using Enterpise Manager. What I am trying to say here, I have no control on the contents of the Editor.. so a find/replace is not […]

RE: Auto Close and Auto Shrink - Just Don't

RE: Bring Trans Rep online during production hours?

  • Reply

Just to answer the questions posed... I'm not compressing the snapshot. I'm using concurrent snapshot generation because I can't lock the production DB during business hours. The BCP files are okay, because I've been able to complete the snapshot successfully one time in the past (painfully long though). Indexes...good point, I didn't make any special […]

RE: Limiting Error Log Sizes

there are couple of ways you can do that: 1. Restart sql server (ruled out i guess) 2. U can run sp_cycle_errorlog, but the number of versions will be 6 only. to change the number of versions you need to edit the registry to have more versions. U can read more about it in books […]
