The answer is not incorrect but the wording is a bit misleading. While it is true that adding 'not null' changes the outcome, it is not true that the column will be filled with 'N' automatically as such.Regards

The article is a good summary, but the fact that it covers SQL 2005 leaves me wondering how relevant it is. Come back in nine months and it may be more relevant, but even then it will be another six months before we upgrade our systems.
