aargh, missed the point with the function. Sorry about that! Like NPeeters said it won't work. After executing your statement your variable is out of scope. So you have to workaround that. Noel mentioned a temp table, which you could query in a second statement. I guess I would try this! Cheers, Frank

Which edition (Standard, Developer, Enterprise, Personal) did you install? Reason I ask, is that ONLY Developer, Personal, or MSDE can run on XP.
