We do not have a Backup Application running on this server that looks at the database files. Also, we have disabled the Anti-Virus program, but we are still getting the errors. Mike

Actually a Clustered index scan is fine for all as that is what would happen. But to get the seek I would do like so DECLARE @id int SET @id = 23 -- COmment out to get all IF (@id IS NULL) SELECT * FROM sysobjects ELSE SELECT * FROM sysobjects WHERE ID = @id […]

Actuate (www.actuate.com) may be overkill - no idea what you're after. Much more powerful reporting tool than any of the above, but is also a server based tool that is not for the casual user. jeff
