Hi Newbie, I have actually had an inverse of your experience where I have to use OSQL to handle our patch files that have extended ascii and Unicode characters. Could you post some sample data and a snippet of code that demonstrates your problem? -Jim

The easiest thing to do here is go to the sp_who2 proc (in master database) and alter it by uncommenting the order by in the dynamic SQL.

The app might have been an admin on the nondedicated machine and you were not aware of it. Being an admin and named pipes v TCP should not have anything to do with each other.
