I'd like to setup e-mail notifications for database maintenance plan successes/failures. Our mail server is Groupwise 7.0. Currently, I have db_owner access to all the databases but not necessarily administrator access to all the database servers.
From what I've read online, there are 3 options available to me:
1. SQL Mail
2. CDOSYS (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/312839)
3. xp_smtp_sendmail (http://www.sqldev.net/xp/xpsmtp.htm)
Based off the websites that I've seen, SQL Mail could cause the most disruption to the database. However, no one seems to have an opinion versus CDOSYS versus xp_smtp_sendmail.
Does anyone know if any option is better/worse than another?
