SQL Pass Update - Day 1

,

So far SQL Pass Summit has been great for me. I have had a great time from day one onwards. Let me summarize what all happened on Day one.

Day one was the best day till now. After the registration I walked into the room for the pre-con of Grant and Gail. I had never seen Gail before. I have this mental image of a lady who is very serious and very geeky. I have seen Grant before and even though he is known as the scary DBA, he is a pretty funny guy. (Uilntil someone messes with his Database) I walked in and said Hi to Grant and then said Hi to Gail. I did not expect her to recognize me nor did I expect her to be a person with a Funny bone. I was wrong in both counts. She recognized me and she has a very good sense of humour.

Their session was awesome. The two of them were dancing to the same tune. They knew the topic very well (That was no suprise). Even though this was a 300 level course, then went a bit deeper than that. So hats of to them. I learnt couple of new things. One suprising thing for me was I already knew ninty five percent of the stuff they were presenting. Does that mean I am getting smarter?:-)

The evening was great fun. Me along with my gang of First timers assigned to me went for the networking dinner arranged by Andy Warren and Steve Jones. There was some really awesome networking done there. We made tons of new friends. We all learnt a lot as well. When geeks get togehter it will always be geeks talk. 🙂

After the dinner, we joined Karla and her Husband Rodney for a late dinner at the Hurricane Cafe. That was an adventure. We had to walk in the rain through some shady part of Seattle. We passed through the front of Sex shop. (I think that is what it was) Our waitress was a young girl who did her schooling at one of the Aeronautics school. We had great time there. Overall it was a fun first day.
