2005 SSIS Packages

  • I'm moving to SQL Server 2008 64bit EE but while I'm in transition we still need to view and run our 2005 packages.

I installed SQL Server 2008 Dev Edition w/SP1 on my desktop and then I installed the SQL 2005 desktop components along with SSIS.

I launch the SQL 2005 SSIS but can't open or run my packages.

Is there a way for me to do this while having the software installed that is listed above?

Thanks for you help in advance.

  • I installed the 2005 version THEN the 2008 version and I have had no issues. Not sure if that matters, but since I never had the issue, I cannot say what is wrong, sorry.

  • Hi

I picked up a similar problem a few months back and it was the most frustrating thing.

In my case the problem lay with the version of Visual Studio 2008 / SSIS that we had installed.

SSIS packages converted from 2005 to 2008 converted properly but would not function.

The earlier RTM versions had problems in that when you tried to remove them and install later versions, the uninstall was not clean and the result was a plethora of error messages. I contacted

Microsoft and no proposed solution helped. The result: Any packages that were converted with the RTM versions had to be re-constructed.

    regards Steve
