64bit SQL AMD install on INTEL X64

    Guys,

    One of 64 bit SQL is built with AMD files.Setup.exe used to install SQL Server and installed SQLSERVER.EXE both shows version NT AMD64. SQL is running on INTEL X64 Bit hardware.

    I think NT INTEL64 version of SQLSERVER.EX should be running on above hardware.

    I noticed this difference during SQL2005 SP3 install.SP3 install completed w/o any errors.

    But running NT AMD64 on INTEL X64 hardware not sure can become an issue in future or is it normal to have this kind of installation.

    Any thoughts on this?

    perfectly normal, the x64 instruction set was developed by AMD and Intel is using it on their CPU's. Originally Intel was pushing Itanium, but it's too expensive and a monster
