Advice to upgrade from SQL Server 2000 To SQL Server 2008 Needed

  • I am planning to upgrade from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008

    I have heard that there some differences that applications that uses the database should take into account

    such differences is regarding strings that is being inserted int data base

    in sql server 2000 if the string was bigger than the field the data is truncated

    I have heard and I do not know if it is true that in SQL Server 2008 the database will generate an error.

    First I am looking to verify this is true

    Secons I am Looking for more recomendations of this kind .

    I strongly suggest the Upgrade Advisor and the System Configuration Checker.

    I have successfully upgraded from SQL Server 2000 to 2008, but the only issues I had experienced were converting DTS packages to SSIS and small issues moving from a 32-bit environment to a 64bit environment.

    I'll post back if I can think of anything else.:-)
