Here is a testament to something. I released a web application used only internally in October of 2010. ... ... ... The log table simply uses an Identity as a primary key. In 9 1/2 years the number of exceptions just reached 1,000 a few minutes ago. That seems an extremely small number of unhandled exceptions for something running that long.
So yesterday was about 12 months from now? You've reaslly got DBCC TimeWarp working properly?

That seems like enough for now. It just seems odd how we will put up with certain software/sites to become less visually appealing but we wouldn't do this with other things. Say they wanted to take (whatever is the latest on line video gaming craze is) and say "well we have some people out there still on flip phones, we need to make our game work on their devices" then they turn that game into something like you would have seen from Atari in the early 80's. Or have car makers go back to an old 80's or 70's boxy or ugly model of the car. I think you get the point. Traffic seems down to me, hell it's been over 4 days since someone posted on 'Today's random word', not sure I've ever seen it go that long.

Issues/fixes I would like to see:
- You can't link your account to multiple emails. An issue I brought up many times. I don't want to associate this site with my work email, just in case something happens to my job. And I don't want to be checking my home email while at work.
- No calendar with links to the daily newsletters. See above, I don't have this site sending me the newsletters. This is helpful when I've been out of the office for a few days, makes it easier to get caught up.
- No preview when replying to a post.
- The view of the 'topics started', appears to be missing the ones I started that I got no response to. Not a huge deal at this time for the old ones since I've since found other answers. I really liked seeing the persons 'picture' instead of just a name.
- The view of the 'topics started', I have one topic that says the last post was 2 weeks and 4 days ago. When I go into it the last post was in October 2018.
- The view of the 'topics started', what I would like to see is this view look more like it did in the old site.
- The 'replies created view, I don't see the benefit of showing me the actual last post I did. Adds a lot of visual clutter to me.
- The 'replies created view, I would like to see this changed to more look like how the 'topics started' view used to look like.
- Under 'Forums' 'Latest Topics' the list does not appear to be order by most recent post, this was a nice feature of the old view like this. And again showing the picture/icon of the person made this more visually appealing, IMHO.
- Reviewing old posts, the SQL code that was embedded stood out and was better formatted.
- And not that it really meant a lot, but I liked seeing how many visits I had to this site. Even though I think the number was completely wrong. I think at one time I noticed it was going up 3 for every visit.

I have no words. I click your link it works fine. I use the site search and get a totally different URL. https://qa.sqlservercentral.com/search/Today%27s+random+word
Then I use a different and get a different URL that also doesn't work.
The more I use the search the more unreliable it seems to be.

Now that's funny, but sad at the same time. I click either of the links in the email notification for this thread and get the "search results for...". I click the URL above in this post and the search finds the correct topic. The link to the random word goes directly to the random word topic. Yikes!
Don't lose hope, Steve. The more your developers knock down, the less will remain.

Another "side effect" of the migration is that some users who haven't been active in years somehow gained several thousand points. If I had that many extra points, I could redeem them for a single internet point. 😉

I also don't see the emojis in the toolbar. I inserted one above by typing, but I admit I'm not up on all the emjoi characters, especially my favorite one with the wide eyes and the open mouth...as if to convey exclamation and surprise.

I think in most cases companies try to put double duties on SQL Developers and now they have to do administrative work. It is definitely in my company, all the SQL Developers are DBAs too. My company sends them to get a MCDBA certificate but the certificate definitely does not make them into an experienced DBA overnight. Actually the person who just got the certificate never touch SQL Server 2005.
Or maybe :woot:?

I just answered a couple of questions and the new site wants me to login repeatedly. It doesn't tell me I'm not logged in when posting, but after I hit submit, my post isn't there and it tells me I have to login to be able to reply. It's especially aggravating to type it all over again. Granted, the posts weren't lengthy or anything, but I don't think the submit button should log people out.
My temporary solution is to copy (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C) my post before I hit submit.
It did it again on this post. This is a pretty bad bug.

Actually, I think those people are getting off lightly. In my last job I had to be head of research, manager of software licensing (licensing by us for our own use and for our customers), DBA for our in-house computers, DBA for the servers we sold to our customers, head of development, head of customer support, Chief Systems (Hardware and Software) Architect, Technical Director, acting (unofficial) CEO (our previous CEO departed and wasn't replaced for a few years), main liaison with the Indian company that did some of our development - all at the same time. But no-one ever asked me to get am MCDBA certicicate or anything like that, because everyone had the same opinion of it that I did (that it didn't mean anything) - my qualifications were my track record of delivering results, not my ability (probably non-existent - it's never been tested) to regurgitate Microsoft's (or anyone else's) self-advertisement jargon disguised as understanding of Microsoft (or anyone else's) products.

I think something must be broken then, as I've had several links that go to that page (the QOTD and a link to one an article being approved in an email had the same problem). Think it would be worth putting on the Website Issues.
