Assigning Reporting Services permissions to a SQL Server login

  • I am installing Reporting services for use by a vendor application. This app has it's own database, and ,per our standards, i will be setting up a SQL Server login for the app to use to connect to it's database. The app will also need to connect to the Reporting services to manage and schedule reports. Books Online indicates that to grant the System Administrator role, I have to use a domain account.

    Questions:

How can I grant a SQL Server Login the System administrator role for Reporting Services?

If I grant the System Administrator role, does the user also get the privleges of the Manage Content role?

  • SSRS is Windows based authentication only, you will need to use something like impersonation or custom authentication providers to do something like that.
