backup error , permission related i think

  • Hi i have a n issue where some backup jobs that have been created on a machine will not execute, it returns a state of 42000 error 22029, and after a bit of research found out it is a permission based thing. Can anyone let me know the base permissions required for a backup to run ? i have read write permissions on the directory, but unsure of issue at the enterprise manager level. I have tried giving the SQL agent sysadmin privelages but to no avail. What am i missing here ?

Life is far too important to be taken seriously

  • sysadmin authority should be enough.

who is the owner of the backup job/s?

If you execute the backup t-sql under your own id (and/or a sysadmin id) from QA, does it run ok?

    Cheers,
