backup failure and os error bothin same time

  hello friends,

  i have problem with some server and the error is,backup device failed-os error.detailed error given below:

  BackupDiskFile::CreateMedia: Backup device 'D:\SMS_BackUp\TOPBackup\SiteDBServer\SMSbkSQLDBsite.dat' failed to create. Operating system error 32.

  and backup failed:

  BACKUP failed to complete the command BACKUP DATABASE SMS_TOP.

  and both error arise in same time.

  and i think both are related to each other because the server is same.

  i have also checked the file path file 'SMSbkSQLDBsite.dat' is available in given location.

  backup was also available.but why this type of alert come i am unable to solve.

  Please answer ASAP.

  please help me i am new in sql server 2005.

  The os error code indicates that the file is in use when you tried to have backup. See the link below.
