Backup question

         is transaction logs automatically truncated after i backup the transaction logs?

    If by truncated you mean is the file shrunk, then no it is not.

    What does happen as I understand it, is the records are written out, and any "complete" transactions commited or rolled back are removed from the log file thereby freeing up space within the log file.
