BOL Update

  • Do either of you have an SQL80.chw (~ 5+ MB) dated appropriately?

    I think that's the one.

    Sorry, edited chm -> chw.

  • You mean SQL80EN.chw ?

That one is dated 01/20/2004 and about 5.3 MB in size

  • Frank, the "en" is most likely because you have the ENglish BOL on a German language O/S ???

I just have to SQL80.??? files.

Copied the tsqlref.chm (2MB), got "mismatch version" message, copied the tsqlref.chi and the "direct to T-SQL BOL" works now, and I get the "©1988-2004 Microsoft Corporation. All Rights Reserved."

Copied SQL80.COL, CHW, CHS files, got "Help" dialog - " Can not open ... SQL80.col.... if I use the original SQL80.col, with the newer .CHW, CHS files, it loads, but shows the "1988-2000 MS Corp...". Any particular place in the help I can look to see if the actual contents are from 2004?

  • Thomas,

yes, I have intentionally installed the updated english version (I don't understand the technical terms that are translated into german anymore)

    As for easy checking:

On the start page of BOL is a link to 'What's new in BOL online'. If you follow that link you should see

  • I still see "What's New in Microsoft SQL Server 2000"

Could be the "contents" comes from the .COL file ????

How about something I can look for in the details somewhere?

At least my TSQLref is 2004 (I hope, since that what is says).

Mostly just care about TSQL anyway

  • Aargh, there was a QOD on this topic.

IIRC, I think you're right, but it wouldn't hurt to search the QOD archive.
