Can we use SQL Server 2008 R2 as distributor ?

  • We have transaction replication between two SQL Server 2005 Servers, the distributor currently running on the same instance as PROD box, to alleviate the load on PROD instance, we decide to use a dedicate box for distributor, question is : Can we use SQL Server 2008 R2 instead of SQL Server 2005 as distributor ? Thanks.

  • You should be ok with that.

The referenced article describes a scenario of a distributor on 2008, transactional replication between a 2000 and 2005 box.
