Cannot connect to Sharepoint List Darasource (could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel:The underlying connection was closed)

  • Dear All,

We are in a kind of a standstill and will appreciate any word of wisdom on the topics below.

We were developing an SSIS package to extract data from sharepoint list (after installing sharepoint adapter, downloaded from codeplex) and import the same into a SQL Server table. We used an XP desktop intiially, (as we did not have enough rights on the dev server). The attempt initially generated an NTLN error, while connecting to Sharepoint List Datasource at run-time, however, this was later resolved by altering the windows login. (and configuring a proxy when ran through a Agent job). The package was developed and tested successfully.

However, when the same was tried on the dev server (after adequate rights were granted, and adapters installed) we could not connect to the sharepoint List Datasource due to the following error …could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel : The underlying connection was closed... The OS on server is WIN2003 SP2, and sharepoint site could be accessed from IE.

A brief search did seem to suggest the fix to be to get the root cert for the site being secured with HTTPS/SSL and put it in the SharePoint Trust store in Central Admin (http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/uploadfile/anavijai/could-not-establish-trust-relationship-for-the-ssltls-secure-channel/). However, our technical team opined otherwise, as par them, it is more of the DB Server storing the certificates and not the other way round.

Any suggestion help will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards.

  • Any word of wisdom regarding the issue please? I really do not believe, the certificate produced by SQL Server has much to play here.

Any highlight on the possible root cause will be of substantial help.

    Regards
