We have AG setup in multi subnet environment. We have assigned two ips for the listener but just one ip to the cluster. Today, the cluster host server moved to the node in other subnet making offline the cluster name and ip as we have no ip assigned in other subnet. Though these resources were offline there was no impact on AG. How these resources are used in AG? I even attempted to failover the AG and it went fine.

The cluster Client access point is not required for the AG, however for cluster management purposes you will need to ensure you have an IP assignment for each subnet

Thanks Perry. What you mean by cluster management purposes ? It's not like cluster is dependent on these resources.

Typically when connecting to the cluster to perform management tasks you would connect to the Cluster client access point, you can obviously connect via node names or cluster role CAPs but the cluster CAP is the route you should use to manage the cluster
