Did someone rename a service account ???
In that case, drop the login from sqlserver and add it again.
Sqlserver stores Windows account by its Windows "guid", so dropping an account and creating a new one with the same name will not work.
Can you reboot the nodes ?

Did someone rename a service account :No..but as part of server hardening some thing might have changed( reverted back the changes)

I have aleardy droped and recreated the cluster account.. but I can not drop the cluster admin login from OS(since this is a cluster admin a\c)
But any way I have given SA rights to builtin\administrators so all the local admin to the box should have access to sql server.

on a slightly different note ... the sequence of events described here seems like a perfect justification for a test cluster - whether it be physical or virtual. 😀

This is not a test cluster, a new build server, but can test anything at the moment.

Finaly this has been resolved. While the hardening og the server the sql service a\c SPN was broken.;). Thanks very much for all who gave their advices.:)

Hi
I am having same problem, and I am not able to start SQL Server service to check or grant cluster account permission.
How did you get it fixed? My production server is down now and how do I get if fixed?

OK, I was able to manually start the sql service and add the cluster account back. It's working now. Thanks!
