Configurable KPI goal

    Hi all,

    Is there a way to setup a KPI where a user using Reporting Services and Report Builder or connecting to AS database via Excel can use the KPIs and set their own goal value, instead of the goal (value or expression) being set in BIDS?

    - Create a dimension for all of the possible values - give it a default member and no "All" member.

    - Add the dimension to the cube but do not join it to any of your measure groups by any fields

    - Make the selected member for this dimension the goal for your KPI

    The user would have to drag out the dimension into the filters and select a member to change the goal from the default.

    This will work in Excel.

    It may not work with SSRS - I seem to remember SSRS having a problem with dimensions not associated with any measure groups.

    BTW - this is WAY off standard practices. You may want to consider using a front end tool that allows this type of KPI customization like Panorama or Proclarity (which is now part of MS Dynamics).

    I'll try this... Am also going to be looking into other tools and also nto designing a simple user-friendly application that would enable this.
