  Please ignore the post, realized what's happening.

  Hi,

  What's the reason for getting the following error message,

  Server: Msg 1807, Level 16, State 3, Line 2

  Could not obtain exclusive lock on database 'MODEL'. Retry the operation later.

  I have created databases before.

  Realized what's going on, there is a lock that is blocking creation of the database.

  During creation new db, the model database is open. Check sp_who2, and if necessary kill proces using model database.
