Creating a heirarchy

    I want to create a simple heirarachy in xml where there are no elements or attributes for a couple levels. For example:

    02029939

    2004-01-01

    I am just learning XML using SQL server2000 and VB 6... Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

    FOR XML EXPLICIT allowes you to return your results in a structure specifically defined by you.  It is much more powerful and richer than FOR XML AUTO and FOR XML RAW. 

    You might want to give it a shot.
