Hi Friends,
I need to take a backup of database daily , my requirement is to retain one week backup but the backup is overwriting daily im noy able to backup of previous days, can anyone please suggest on this

My suggestion is to use Maintenance Plan. It creates different backup files with different name. It does not overwrite.
You can add a step to delete older backup files, if you want.
I guess, currently you are taking backup with hardcoded filename and WITH INIT option.

Right click and select Modify.

Text file? Are you talking about Reporting and Logging...
Backup file extensions are .BAK or .TRN
What error message do you get?

i mean to say, to modify the path for taking backup with the existing maintenance plan
