data file corrupted and became 0 size on server restart

  • Hi gurus,

We've got a weird problem lately. At one time, we used Surface Config to stop the db server and then restarted the machine (we've actually done that many times before).

The problem is: after the machine came back, one of the database's data file became 0 in size and the db is completely down.

    We have:

    SQL Server 2005 SP2 Enterprise

    Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64bit

    HP MSA 2000 storage server

The database has 4 data files, one on each disk array of RAID5.

Have somebody here seen this before? If so, could somebody shed some light on the cause of this problem?

    thanks a lot.
