DBCC DBREINDEX failure question

  • If you are running DBCC DBREINDEX on all tables and one index in the middle fails due to a deadlock are the indexes before and after the index that failed rebuilt?

  • I can't answer your question for you and without looking it up I'd just be taking a best guess. What I can tell you though is DBCC DBREINDEX is going to be removed in future versions of SQL Server. You should be using ALTER INDEX instead.

  • Unless you ran them in an explicit transaction, the ones before would have been rebuild, the ones after not.
