Device Timed out

    Hi All,

    We are getting this kind of error messages a lot from one of our servers. I can also see during the same time when this error occurs some backup jobs also fail.

    Error 11/3/2003 6:08:55 AM cpqfcalm

    None 9 N/A TVSQLP1

    The device, \Device\Scsi\cpqfcalm1, did not respond within the timeout period.

    Please let me know if anybody has any kind of information about this error messages.

    SQL - 2000 SP3a

    OS - WIN2K SP4

    I would run hardware check to disk sub-system and send it back to verdor for analysis.

    Actually we did that, and the vendor came back and said "Ignore it". I dont know how I can ignore it when the Backup jobs are failing because of this "Timeout Issue".

    I was just wondering if there is any switch which we can turn on/off to stop this thing from happening.

    I think I started getting more and more of these error messages after we applied SP4 on the OS.

    Event ID 9 is related "SCSI Resets" and "SCSI Timeouts" of your storage if you run HP/Compaq machine. Run ADU report utility provided from them and send it back.
