We are planning to move the distribution database from one domain to another by restoring system backups. What kind of precautions we need to take in order to finish this project successfully.

Security of the agents so the communication works for replicating data without issues.

You have to make sure the folder level permisson are correct where replication schemas are stored during snapshot job .
Check all the distribution job owner if they are mapped to SA or service account .
Check at windows level if they belong to proper windows group so that permisson are inherited .
Also if you can share publisher , subscriber and distributor are going to be in same domain or different you perhaps needs to involve system admins to confirm the security topology .
