I am getting ready to install Enterprise Edition SQL Server 2000 on a new server that has 4 processors and 8 GB of RAM. In the past I have installed Standard Edition on this type of box and used the AWE and other switches to get maximum memory usage.
I was wondering if I have to do anything extra to utilize the extra memory when using EE?

You need
1. Set /3Gb /PAE switches on boot.ini
2. enable AWE on SQL Server

If you plan to install SQL Server 2000 SP4, don't forget to install the hotfix that addresses the AWE issue. See KB article 899761.

Sorry guys, two things. One, the server I did this on earlier was also EE. Extra memory cannot be used with Standard Edition.
Also, I won't be applying SP4 yet.

Just to point it out: You do not need the /3GB switch. With an 8GB RAM dedicated SQL box you normally want to use it, but it is not a requirement. It depends on what kind of work you operating system is doing, but normally Windows will do fine with 1GB RAM.
