Error while restoring a database

  Hi,

  I am trying to restore the backup taken from a remote machine on my local server.

  But getting error as" The media family on device is incorrectly formed."SQL server cann't process this media family,Restore Filelist is terminating abnormally".

  Hi,

  Check is the backup file is not corrupted? Use RESTORE VERIFYONLY for the backup file and chk if it runs withour any issue.

  JFYI: 'RESTORE VERIFYONLY' verifies the backup but does not restore it. It would help us detecting any errors with the backup file.
