expand transaction log with error:5149

    Database optimization and rebuild index failed with error indicating transaction log is full. When attempting to increase the database transaction log file, I got message: 'Error 5149: modify file encountered operating system error 1392(file or directory is corrupted and unreadable) while attempting to expand the physical file' .  But, I was able to do database and transaction log backups. What should I do to enable me to expand its transaction log without errors ? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks

    I assume you have ran DBCC's and there is no corruption?  This would appear at a first glance to be a disk sub-system problem. I would start by checking the SQL Server and OS System logs for I/O type errors.
