Express SP1 Upgrade to Standard

  • Hi, I've a SQL2005 Express Edition installed on a server with SP1. Therefore the version in the errorlog is 9.00.2047.  When I simply try to upgrade to Standard from CD using skuupgrade=1 I get an error saying that the version of SQL I'm upgrading is newer than the one I'm trying to upgrade too!!  Its a named instance by the way.

In theory I get that, as I'm trying to go from Express SP1 to Standard with no SP. I don't remember this being a problem in SQL2000 though.  Is there an easier way round this rather than de-installing SQL, installing SQL2005 standard and the SP, then re-attaching the DB's ??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks....

  • No responses so thought I'd add my own in case anyone else needs to do this. As suspected had to:

    backup,detach,de-install,install 2005 Std, install sp2, attach db's
