few qq on SQL 2005 DBCC data PAGE output

  • Hi, can anyone please explain use of BUFFER section in DBCC PAGE output like bpage, bhash, breference etc. I really couldnt find useful link reg. this section (sql 2005).

and in PAGE HEADER section i could see both GAM & SGAM status as ALLOCATED (test table have only one record). is this valid scenerio?

and in SQL 2005 DBCC PAGE Slots section, i could see a word 'Memory Dump'. if im correct i havent seen this word in SQL 2000 DBCC PAGE output.

here PAGE refers any SQL 2005 DATA page.

it would be great if anyone could put some light on this.

abt me: im a DBA givig some basic level sql query performance tuning solution to my team. intrested in & learning SQL Server architecture & Performance tuning part.

    thanks in advance.
